Melvina "Butch" Ellenburg Melton, age 94, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at her home. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry Luther and Theodosha Ellenburg, her husband Henry Elisha and her brothers, Harrison Ellenburg, Grady Ellenburg, James Ellenburg, George Ellenburg, Willie Lee Ellenburg, sisters, Martha White, and Louise Dewey.

A lifelong resident of Rutherford County and a member of First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton. She began work at Gilbert's Dry Cleaners where she met her husband of 64 years. She retired from Dalton's Clothing Store after 45 years as Assistant Manager. "Butch's" customers were her friends, and she was passionate about helping people look and feel their very best. She was a friend to many in her community and always provided words of encouragement and a shoulder to lean in times of need.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and "grand animals." "Butch" enjoyed gardening and flower arranging.

She was courageous. In the face of health and other challenges, she always kept her poise, acted as the gracious host, and found ways to make those around her smile.

Butch is survived by two daughters, Janice Hines, and Kim Melton (Cindy Sylvester), one son, Scott Melton (Donna Koch), two sisters, Lura Ellenburg Wyatt, Mary Ellenburg Moss, two grandchildren, Jennifer Hines Melchior (Scott John), James Scott Melton, and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Melchior, and Claire Melchior. She is also survived by many nieces, and nephews.

Mask will be required to attend the services for Butch.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday August 3, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton sanctuary. The memorial service will be at First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 3, 2022, with Reverend Tim Marsh officiating.  The interment of the urn will be 10:00 A.M.
