Merle Mauney Deck

Merle Mauney Deck, age 91, of Rutherfordton, NC, died peacefully Friday, September 25, 2026 at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

She was the daughter of the late Horace Mauney and the late Minnie Huntsinger Mauney.

Merle was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Henry C. Deck who died in 2021. Merle was a member of Adaville Baptist Church of over 50 years. She worked at General Fireproofing and later for Watts Regulators in Spindale. Merle was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.

Two Sons:

Michael H. Deck and his wife Robin; Terry E. Deck and his wife Deborah.

Four Grandchildren: Lauren Crotts (John), Lindsey Bright (Kyle), Justin Melton (Krystal) and Aaron Deck (Katrina).

Seven Great-Grandchildren

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Adaville Baptist Church. The Funeral service will be at Adaville Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 29, 2026 with Reverend Jeff Pate officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Forest City, NC. Memorial may be made to Adaville Baptist Church Youth; 805 Oakland Road; Spindale, NC 28160. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory in charge of arrangements.
