Michael J. Jett, age 79, of Columbus, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in Rutherford County.

A native of Elizabethton, TN, Mike was the son of the late Charles and Bernice Jett. Mike was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam war where he ranked as a Captain. He worked and lived in Europe for a number of years, he also worked for AirPhoto USA in Phoenix, AZ, and lastly at Ernest and Young as a C.P.A.. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Carolyn Harris Ruppe Jett of Columbus, NC, Michael's children, Charlotte Michelle Jett Silver (Alan), of NY, and Carter Bradley Jett, of TX, his stepchildren, Myron Ruppe (Renee), of Rutherfordton, NC, and Alan Ruppe (Rhonda), of Statesville, NC. two grandchildren, Portia, and Jackson Silver, and one step-granddaughter, Taylor Ruppe.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 7, 2023 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 7, 2023 with Dr. James L. Powell, PhD officiating. Interment will be private for the family only at Kistler's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
