Mrs. Mildred Edgerton Waters, age 97, of Rutherfordton, died Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Hospice House of Rutherford County. She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Harris Edgerton and the late Estelle Weeks Edgerton. She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Mildred was one of ten children and was the mascot for the 1st graduating class of the old Mount Vernon High School. She was a loving mother and grandmother, loved to be outdoors to garden and loved to cook. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin A. Waters. She is survived by: One Son: Harry Waters of Rutherfordton One Daughter: Nancy Pelletier of Missoula, Montana One Sister: Ethel Metcalf of Rutherfordton One Brother: Hoyle Edgerton Sr. of Rutherfordton Two Grandchildren: Jamey Waters and wife Claudia Amy Richardson and husband Mark Four Great-Grandchildren: J.T. Waters, Natalie Waters, Christa Olgelsby and Tradd Richardson. The graveside service will be at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2018 with Reverend Dr. Scott Courtney and Reverend Don Hollifield officiating. Interment will be at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends after the graveside service in the sanctuary of the church.
