Obituary

Myrtle Culbreth Bennett, age 105, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Oakland Living Center . She was the daughter of the late Joseph William Culbreth and the late Della Jane Owens Culbreth and a native of Rutherford County. Myrtle was a member of Kistler's Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Myrtle loved going to the Rutherford County Senior Center. She loved all children, her family and her neighbors dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband Trillen E. Bennett, three brothers; Broadus, Howard and Hoyle Culbreth and one sister Ellie Hines. She is survived by One Brother: Frank Culbreth of Charlotte, NC four nieces: Zana Whitmire, Glorious Doggett, Kathy Hamilton, Allyson Ware. four nephews: Dr. Fay Culbreth, Dr. Spencer Culbreth, Steve Hines, Dean Culbreth. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday at McMahan's prior to the service. The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 30, 2018 with Reverend Julie O'Neal officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Forest City, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oakland Living Center; 704 Poors Ford Road; Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
