IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pamela "Pam"
Carla Keith
November 24, 1948 – March 9, 2024
Pamela Carla Keith of Lake Lure, NC, went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2024, after several years of battling cancer at age 75. She was born to the late Lt. Col. Harold "Pug" Wohlford and his wife Elaine on November 24, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas. Being from a military family, Pam spent her early years moving from base to base throughout the Midwest.
Pam's family moved east and located in Sparta, NJ, where she attended her elementary and high school years. After attending American University, Pam settled in Hendersonville, NC. Pam's first major employment was with Young Generations and Ruth's Original's Children Clothing where, over time, she led all primary business functions while growing the company from the original four employees to over one hundred employees.
After meeting and marrying Robert M Keith, Pam moved to Farmington, Connecticut where she held a library technician's position for eight years until Bob's retirement in 1995. In 1999 they then relocated back to NC and retired in Lake Lure.
Pam immediately became involved as an Elder in Fairfield Mountains Chapel and was elected to that position several times over the years. She became active in the Homeowners Association at Rumbling Bald, served as an officer in the Lakefront Homeowners Association, held many positions on the Ladies Golf Association and helped develop and sustain the Olympiad, an annual sports festival for over 20 years in Lake Lure. And if that wasn't enough, she managed a pet sitting business with over 50 area clients for more than ten years. Pam was always active in serving others (including animals) and making the community a better place to live.
Pam is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert Keith, children Robert Keith Jr. and his wife Kate, Douglas Keith and fiancé Pam, Patricia Keith Grennon and her husband Chris, and their families to include seven beloved grandchildren: her sister Sandy Rockman and her husband Roy, their four children, Todd, Pammie, Erin and Brett, and many great nieces and nephews.
Pam was truly an angel on earth, always with a smile and positive attitude, was loved by all and will be enormously missed in the community.
There will be a Celebration of Life on April 6, 2024, at Fairfield Mountains Chapel at 2pm in Lake Lure, with a reception following at Legends at Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Rutherford County Humane Society, PO Box 998, Rutherfordton, NC 28139, or Fairfield Mountains Chapel Compassion Fund. Online condolences can be made at www.mcmahansfuneralhome.com.
