Rachel Hodge Humphries, age 93, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

Rachel was a native of Rutherford County, and she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Hodge and Arlou Stone Hodge. She was also the widow of the late Eldon Reid Humphries. Rachel was a life-long active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She absolutely loved her church, and she served as the treasurer for many years. Rachel retired from A&P Grocery after working as the bookkeeper for 44 years. In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was preceded in death by nine siblings, Lottie Holland, Gibon Hodge, Esper Hodge, Pvt 1st Class Charles Hodge, Joe Hodge, Clarence Hodge, Beatrice Ervin, Kate Hodge, and Bernice Searcy. Rachel loved to go visit and see her friends at the Senior Center.

Survivors include one daughter, Jane Humphries Blanton (Gary), one son, Phillip Eldon Humphries (Pamela Atchley Humphries), three grandchildren, Joshua Humphries, Caleb Humphries (McKenzie), and Garrett Blanton. The family would like to give special recognition to Rachel's loving caregiver, Ramona Upton.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at Calvary Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2024, with Reverend Dr. Bruce Caldwell and Reverend Kenneth Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church 224 Chimney Rock Rd.
