Robert "Bob" Sluder, age 78, of the Gilkey communtiy of Rutherfordton, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. He was the son of the late Roy and Ora Sluder and a native of Virginia. Robert loved his family dearly, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Robert served over 14 years in the North Carolina Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his grandson Jonathan Tyler Walters. He liked NASCAR and his favorite driver was the late Dale Earnhart. Robert was a big Carolina Panthers fan and he had a loving heart for animals. He enjoyed watching old westerns. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years: Ruth Sluder. One Daughter: Diana Sluder and fiancée Tim Cole Others he considered his family: Brittany Condrey and her daughter Fallynn Sage Kimbrell, Anthony Cole, Brad Cole and his wife Kaitlin; Ashley Cole and her son Kaizer Blake Hodge. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 27, 2018 prior to the service at McMahan's. The Funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 27, 2018 with Reverend Jack Bridges officiating. Interment will be at Gilkey United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
