IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robin Deloach
Bates
September 28, 1956 – October 18, 2025
In Loving Memory of Robin DeLoach Bates:
Robin DeLoach Bates, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated teacher, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the age 69.
Robin's greatest pride and joy came from her family. She was a devoted wife, mom, and "Nana," who poured love into her children, grandchildren, and furry pets.
Robin is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gary Bates, her children, Kevin Bates and wife Mary, Cammie Zipparo and husband Dave, stepchildren, Chris Bates, and Kellie Barr and husband Erik. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren- Rosa Bates, Teddy Bates, Nathan Barr, Charlie Bates, Oliver Barr, Evie Bates, Katie Bates, Liam Bates, and soon-to-be-born Baby Zipparo- who lit up her world and filled her heart with endless joy. Robin is also survived by her sister, Debbie Peterson and husband Sid, along with many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Barbara DeLoach, and her in-laws, Arthur and Kay Bates.
Born and raised in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Robin spent her life caring for others. She taught elementary education for more than 25 years, shaping young minds with patience, creativity, and boundless kindness. Her classroom was a place where every child felt seen, encouraged, and capable—a legacy that will live on in generations of students.
Beyond teaching, Robin found peace and comfort in the beauty of God's creation. She loved spending time outdoors, especially in the mountains of North Carolina, where she enjoyed walking, gardening, and time with her dogs. She found delight in visiting the Biltmore Estate, listening to Celtic music, crafting handmade treasures for those she loved, and celebrating the simple, sacred moments of everyday life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to causes close to her heart—education and animal rescue organizations: Hand in Hand of the Swannanoa Valley, https://www.facebook.com/handinhandsv/ and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, https://www.bwar.org/
