Rodney Owens, age 75, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

A native of Rutherford County, Rodney was the son of the late RL Owens and the late Ruby H. Owens. Rodney was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era. He worked in social services and was the administrator at Holly Springs Senior Citizens Home for many years until he retired. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; those were his two favorite hobbies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Joel Owens.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eliza C. Owens, his son, Ryan W. Owens, and his wife Courtney H. Owens, his sister, Debbie Owens, and two grandchildren, Reagan W. Owens, and Ava N. Owens.

The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 25, 2024, with Reverend Don Hollifield officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Interment will be private at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, NC with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
