Roy E. Chandler, age 91, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

A native of Rutherford County, Roy was the son of the late C. A. and Bessie Chandler. Roy was the circulation manager for the Asheville Citizen Times, and for the Hendersonville Times News for many years. One thing Roy loved to do was to work in his yard. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his three brothers, Leonard Chandler, Charles Chandler, and Boyce Chandler, and two sisters, Lucille Bailey, and Ruth Smith.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Joyce G. Chandler, one daughter, Carol C. Sullivan (Mike), two granddaughters, Brittany Dinola (Tony), and Taylor Fender (Josh), and four great-grandsons, Finn Dinola, Will Dinola, Tucker Fender, and Cooper Fender.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, June 9, 2023, at McMahan's Funeral Home.  The graveside service will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park at 2:30 PM, Friday, June 9, 2023. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in memory of Roy; P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
