IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Scott
Arrowood
July 8, 1963 – January 23, 2022
Scott Arrowood, age 58, of Union Mills passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, of natural causes, at his home. He was the beloved son of the late G.B. Arrowood and Sarah Genevieve Arrowood. Scott was a native of Rutherford County, and a member of Piney Knob Baptist Church. In 1981 he graduated from RS Central and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Devry University in 1985. In the early years of his career he wrote software for one of the fastest CNC water jet machines in operation in the USA. While working for Computers Dynamics he helped develop special thermal controlled hardware that would later be used on space shuttles. A few years later he flew to Hershey, Pennsylvania to be part of the team that optimized the production line software for the Hershey's factory that created "Hershey's Hugs" and the "Hershey Nuggets" candy. He continued into software programming and has been Project Manager and Lead Programmer on many jobs since. Scott is survived by his mother, Sarah Genevieve Arrowood, three sons, Phillip Arrowood (Amaris Snyder), Cody Arrowood (Jessica Morrow), Aaron Arrowood, two nephews, Shane Arrowood and Ryan Arrowood (Mandy Arrowood), one brother, Keith Arrowood (Molly Arrowood), and one grandpuppy, Samson. Scott was an avid motorcycle rider, a devoted son, and Papa Bear to his sons. He enjoyed weekend motorcycle trips with his sons through winding roads like "The Tail of the Dragon", and frequent meals at Big Dave's Fish Camp with his mother. He was deeply involved in his son's lives; attending Phillip's concerts, helping Aaron build his gaming PC, and passing on his love of motorcycles to Cody (one twisty road at a time). He was the king of "dad jokes" and passed his sense of humor down to every one of his sons. Scott was a mountain of a man with a mountain of a heart. He had a big infectious smile and couldn't help showing it. Almost anyone he spent time around quickly became his friend; and most of those became life-long friends. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 29, 2022, at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, January 29, 2022, at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robby Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery. An online guest register is available at www.mcmahansfuneralhome.com.
