Sharon Lynn Sharar, age 71, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Sharon was born on November 17, 1954, to the late Melvin Selasky and Dot Selasky. She found great joy in gardening, a passion that was central to her life. In recent years, she also became an avid reader. Sharon enjoyed cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and watching golf, pastimes that brought her much pleasure.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, S. T. “Tom” Sharar; and her brother, Mark Selasky and his wife, Janas.

A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. McMahan’s Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of cremation arrangements.
