Shirley Head Holland, age 71, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

She was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle Head, and she was a native of Rutherford County. Shirley graduated from Chase High School in 1969, and she was a member at Holly Springs Baptist Church. She absolutely loved birds, and she was also a Boston Terrier lover, she had three of them. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by three brothers, George Head Jr., Max Head, and Robert Head, two sisters, Fern Huntsinger, and Lillian Hudson, and one grandchild, Nathan Cheek.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 54 years, James "Jimmy" D Holland Sr., one daughter, Jackie St Clair (Victor) of West Virginia, one son, James "Jamie" D Holland Jr. of Rutherfordton, two sisters, Patricia Gettys, and Helen Taylor, two brothers, Reid Head, and Donald Head (Alice), and one grandson, Hayden Cheek.

There will be no local services. McMahan's Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
