Much beloved Theodore W. Johnston, age 68, of Rutherfordton went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 4, 2016, at his home. Ted was a native of Watsonville, CA. He was the son of the late David T. Johnston and the late Gaynell Pratt Johnston. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: step-mother Fay Johnston; brothers: Robert Johnston and Jack Johnston. Ted was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He retired from the United States Postal Services. He also served our country in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife of 49 years Deborah M. Johnston. Three Sons: Michael Johnston and his wife Chris of Dallas, NC David Johnston and his wife Linda of Union Mills Richard Johnston and his wife Sharon of Spindale. Two Brothers: Johnny Johnston of California Kenneth Johnston of California Two Step-Brothers: John Fuller of Pennsylvania Paul Fuller of Alabama Step-sister: Brenda Jenkies of California 10 Grandchildren 5 Great-grandchildren Many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 7, 2016 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 8, 2016 at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Alley officiating. Interment will be at Brittain Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
