Una Ruth Baynard Glance, age 76, formerly of Rutherfordton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, North Carolina.  She was born December 2, 1948, in Gilkey, North Carolina, to Zeb Archie and Nancy Sue Head Baynard.  She was a graduate of Alexander School.  She was married to Edwin Hugh Glance for 57 years and had two children, Edwin Ira and Amber Nichole.  She worked for many years at Trinity Preschool as a teacher and eventually as the director.  Una was a dedicated member of Gilkey Church of God for many years where she taught Sunday school and was very involved in women's ministries.  She joined Second Baptist Church in Rutherfordton later in her life.  Una was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved spending time on Lake James with family and friends. Her greatest joy later in life was her grandchildren.

Una was predeceased in death by her parents, sister Modene Sisk, her brothers, Odell Baynard, Dazel Baynard, and Carroll Baynard.

Una is survived by her husband Edwin Hugh Glance; son Edwin Ira Glance and wife Anita; daughter Nichole Glance Booker and husband Brent; grandchildren Summer DuPree, Isaiah Glance, Tyler Glance, Lillian "Grace" Booker, Andrew Glance, and Hugh "Mac" Booker; sisters Joyce Dobbins, Fredia Parker, and Kay Webb; brothers Marshall Baynard and David Baynard; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at McMahan Funeral Home in Rutherfordton on January 30, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton on January 31, 2025, at 11:00 am with Reverend Dr. Keith Stephenson and Reverend Brandon Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Gilkey Methodist Church. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
