Violet Ruth Harwood, age 74 , of Rutherfordton, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024.

She was the daughter of the late Willie Holcombe and Louise Holcombe. Violet was a native of Buncombe County, and she was a member of Brooklyn Baptist Church in South Carolina. Violet was also a graduate of Enka High School class of 1969. She was preceded in death by sisters, Margaritte Medford, Shirley Salyer and Patsy Holcombe brother Oscar Holcombe.

Survivors include her husband, Woody Harwood, two sons,Lee Harwood, and Stephen Harwood and his wife Gwen, two sisters,Virginia Walker and her husband Bob, and Jeanette Parker, two brothers, Bill Holcombe and his wife Margaret, and Ed Holcombe and his wife Sylvia, two grandchildren, Chris Pulley, and Brandy Langley, and three great-grandchildren, Axl Pulley, Vada Pulley, and Cynthia Howell.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The memorial service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 12:30 PM, Wednesday, September 25, 2024 with the Reverend Clay Collins and Reverend Mitchell Wilson officiating. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory in charge of arrangements.
