Wayne L. Bivens, age 77, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Thursday, December 22, 2016, at his home after a long illness. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Grover Bivens and the late Ivis Bivens. He attended Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church. He was a truck driver for Ramsey Hardwood for ten years before buying and operating his own truck as an independent driver untill his retiring. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Pat Bivens. Two Daughters: Vickie Townzen and husband Larry of Sevierville, TN. Susan Thomas and Husband Marty of Rutherfordton. One Son: Scott Bivens of Rutherfordton Two Sisters: Martha Ann McCurry of Golden Valley Nancy Harris of Cliffside Two Brothers: Garland Bivens of Rutherfordton David Bivens of Ellenboro Four Grandchildren Eight Great-Grandchildren The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church. The funeral service will be at Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness at 12:00 PM, Saturday, December 24, 2016 with Reverend Monty Monteith and Loyce Snider officiating.
