Wayne Vess, age 75, of Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills. He was the son of the late Leroy and Newell Jones Vess and a native of Rutherford County.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Hutchins Vess.

Wayne was a UNC Tarheels fan to the chagrin of his brother and brother-in-law who were both Duke Blue Devil fans.

He is survived by his, two daughters, Angela Nicole McRee, Erin Vess Baker (Keith), one son, Robert W. Vess (Jannie), one step-daughter, Marisha Stainbeck, one sister, Diane Fisher (Bill), two brothers, Ardie Vess, Keith Vess (Roxie), and six grandchildren, Gracie Vess, Jaden Vess, Ryan McRee, Kaitlin Baker, Kamden Baker, and Gambit Aycoth.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 5, 2022 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The memorial service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 5, 2022 with Reverend Andy Evans officiating.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills; P O Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.  McMahan's Funeral Home & Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.
