William "Brian" Dotson, age 68, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025, at his home.

A native of Decatur IL, Brian was the son of the late William Ronald (Bill) and Audrey Lorene (Maze) Dotson.

With an AS in Engineering he worked as a supervisor with Watts Regulator in many areas around the country before he retired from Watts in Spindale, NC.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing pool, fishing, and spending quality time with his family. He had a love for animals and was often called the "cat whisperer". His beloved cat, Abby, never left his side.

Brian is survived by his sister, Kathryn Sue Smith and her husband Gregory, nieces, Katie Smith-Frank (Troy), Brandy Smith (Bran Flakes), Lindly Leischner (Larry) and many family members including other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. His former wife and caregiver, Karen D. Taylor and her husband Randy, along with the Taylor family. Brian was a beloved Uncle to Nicholas and Michael Taylor.

There will be no local services. A Celebration of Life will be held for Brian in Decatur, IL at a later date. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
