William "Bill" Groves, age 86, of Forest City, NC, died Thursday, September 17, 2020, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Reuel "Det" Groves and the late Alta "Gladys" Padgett Groves and he was a native of Rutherford County. Bill was the widower of his first wife; the late Maxine Barnes Groves and his second wife; Patsy Blankenship McKinney Groves. He served 2 years in the Army (Crypto Equipment Repairman) where he received the National Defense Service medal and the Good Conduct medal. Bill retired in 1991 from IBM after a 35 year career as a Field Service Engineer. He was a member at Centennial United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents and wives Bill was preceded in death by one son, Gary Groves.

Two Daughters: Stephanie Sutay (John) Cheryl Adams (Ron)

One Son: Jeff Groves (Brenda)

One Brother: Jack Franklin Groves

Three Step-sons: Rex McKinney (Barbara) Ricky McKinney (Cindy) Gary McKinney (Susan)

One Step-daughter: Cheryl Cole (Mark)

Eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren Six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, Saturday, September 19, 2020 at McMahan's Funeral Home.  The graveside service will be at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church at 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 19, 2020 with Steve Michaels officiating. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Spartanburg; Attn. Finance Office 250 E. Main St. Spartanburg, SC 29306. The family has requested that masks be worn at the visitation as well as at the graveside service for everyone's safety.  Interment will be at Mt.
