Reverend William E. Swink, age 73, of Rutherfordton, NC, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

He was the son of the late Mat and Alice Swink, and he was a native of Abbeville County, SC. William surrendered to preach at the age of 16 and dedicated his entire life to serving the Lord. He served on the Board of Directors for the NC Baptist State Convention. William retired after serving as the preacher at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for 18 years. He loved to fish, hunt, and to be outdoors when he was able. He was also a big fan of fast cars including Mustangs. William had a servant's heart, he loved his family, his church family and would help anybody in need without hesitation. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Holliday Swink, and his sister, Shirley Bordner.

He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Powell (Sammy), Karen Blackburn (Kenny), nine grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He also left behind his fur baby, Little Man.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, with Reverend James Henson, Reverend Donald Hollifield, and Reverend Dr. David Jendrey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Reverend Rick Wall, and Reverend Brent Frady officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, in memory of Rev. William Swink; 563 Pleasant Hill Church Rd. Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
