IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Mark"
Weaver
August 11, 1970 – March 11, 2026
William Mark Weaver of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 11, 2026 at the age of 55. He was a beloved husband, father, mentor, and friend whose quiet strength and generous spirit touched countless lives.
Mark had a remarkable gift for connecting with people, especially young people. A graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School, he devoted much of his life to working with young adults at a variety of organizations, including Winthrop University, AmeriCorps, and most recently Newberry Alternative School. Whether in a classroom, a mentoring conversation, or simply offering encouragement at the right moment, Mark believed deeply in helping others discover their potential. He was a gifted teacher and a trusted mentor, and many people carry forward the lessons, wisdom, and confidence he helped instill in them.
To his family, Mark was the steady center of their lives, the calm in every storm. He loved deeply and faithfully, and nothing mattered more to him than the people he loved. He was a devoted husband and an extraordinary father who poured his heart into his children, guiding them with patience, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Stacy Weaver; his children, Shay Friend (Mike Friend), Macy Weaver, and Gray Weaver; and his beloved granddaughters, Ari Reid Friend and Ivy Friend. He was preceded in death by his son, Reid Huffman, whom he loved deeply and whose memory he carried with him always. The thought that they are reunited brings comfort to those who loved them both.
Mark will be remembered for his kindness, his wisdom, and the quiet but powerful way he invested in the lives of others. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly and in the many people whose lives were changed because he cared.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to The Reid Center at the Lifting Lives Family Shelter. Checks should be made to Lifting Lives Family Shelter- memo line The REID Center. Lifting Lives Family Shelter, P.O Box 820538, Vicksburg, MS 39182. Services honoring Mark's life will be private.
