Winfred Hoyle Owens, age 87, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

He was the son of the late Reverend Robert Hoyle Owens and the late Eva Pittman Owens. Winfred was a native of Rutherford County and a member of West Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and he was also the chairman of Deacons. He served in the Navy for four years in Texas. In addition to his parents, Winfred was preceded in death by all three of his sisters: Betty Wiles, Bobbie Freeman and Peggy Joyce Owens.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Joyce White Owens.

One Daughter: Lisa Ann Owens

One Son: Steve Hoyle Owens and his wife Gina.

Three Grandchildren Brandon Burgess, Josh Burgess and Alexia Owens

One Great-Grandchild Raegan Burgess

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at McMahan's Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, January 1, 2020 with Reverend Alan Beane and Reverend Mike Snelgrove officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park following the service with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
