Alvin J. Searcy, age 88, of Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.
A native of Rutherford County Alvin was the son of the late Aiden and Josephine Searcy. Alvin was an US Army Veteran, and he retired from Duke Energy in 1992 after 40 years. A lifelong dream of Alvin's was to own a farm. He purchased 30 acres in Marion, NC. His second chapter in life included happy days raising black angus cattle, guinea chickens, and honeybees. He was always thrilled to share his farming knowledge with anyone interested especially local school children. In addition to his parents, Alvin was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Searcy, and an infant brother, sisters, Ethel Hill, Jeanette McGraw, and Alice Taylor.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Sylvia Searcy, one son, Blake Searcy, one sister, Evelyn Ervin, and one brother, Albert Searcy.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 29, 2023, at McMahan's Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at Bill's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Lake Lure at 3:00 PM, Thursday, June 29, 2023, with Reverend Keys Pendleton officiating of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bill's Creek Baptist Church; 1475 Bills Creek Rd. Lake Lure, NC 28746. McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
