Alvin "Wayne" Ruppe

Alvin “Wayne” Ruppe passed away at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family at Hospice House on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Born June 28, 1939 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Furman Ruppe and Emma Lou Blackwell.

Wayne began his career at Stonecutter Mills. He then followed his life passion of golf and was the long time Golf Pro at Meadowbrook Golf Course. He took a second career later in life as a Security Guard at Torrington Fafnir, later to become Timken. He loved competition and possessed multiple trophies for horse shows, golf, bowling and his vintage trucks.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Cythenia Ruppe. Daughters Sherry Melton and her husband Lynn of Rutherfordton, NC and Bonita Gutierrez and her husband Tony of Arlington, WA. Grandchildren; Austin Conner (McKenzie), Selena Gutierrez, Haley Morrow (Ethan), Joshua Gutierrez and Rebecca Melton.  Four great grandchildren; Dawson Conner, Hudson Morrow, Braelynn Morrow and Brexlynn Morrow. He is also survived by his sisters June Burnette, Trisha Ruppe and Cathy Tomblin.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, July 14, 2023 at West Point Baptist Church with Reverend Lance Scarlett and Reverend Ad Hopper officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
