Brenda Diane Swink Trantham, 74, of Forest City died Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Rutherford Regional Hospital after a four week illness with Covid-19. Born November 2, 1946 in Rutherford County, she spent her early childhood in Montana before returning to North Carolina. A widow, she was a resident of Fair Haven of Forest City for the past three years. After having spent 37 years in the textile industry at Cone Mills Corporation, Diane attended Isothermal Community College and received her CNA certification in 2002. She went on to do private home health care until retirement.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Vegoren and Fern White Vegoren. She is survived by daughter, Tammy Wright Carpenter and husband, Tom, of Forest City and their children, Sully and Sydney Carpenter of Clemson, SC; daughter, Tonda Wright Holland and husband, Robin, and their daughter, Neely Holland, of Bostic; son, Freddie Ray Swink and his son, Brandon Swink, both of Forest City; daughter, Rhonda Swink Robbins, and husband, Chris, and their daughter, Breanna Robbins, and son, Austin Robbins and his wife, Morgan and her son, Jexx, all of Rutherfordton. Additionally, Diane is survived by sister, Judy Vegoren Vess of Ellenboro, sister Karen Vegoren Fain of Rutherfordton, sister Claudia Wevers of Bonner, Montana; brother, Larry Dean Vegoren of Forest City.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, 2:00 at Adaville Baptist Church Cemetery. Social distancing and masks are required. The Reverend Wayne Toney will officiate.
