Christine H. Thompson

Christine  H. Thompson, age 91, of Rutherfordton, died Monday, September 18, 2023, at Upstate Community Hospice after a brief illness.   She was the daughter of the late Perley and Nettie Hyde, born in Macon County, North Carolina and raised in Bryson City North Carolina.  She was a graduate of Gardner Webb University and Western Carolina Teacher's College.  She was the loving wife of the late Harold Thompson.  Christine was a member of First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton.  She retired as a teacher  from the Rutherford County School System.  She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and was famous for her grilled cheese sandwiches.  She is survived by her two sons,
Dr. William "Bill" Thompson and his wife Vickie of Rutherfordton, NC and Chris Thompson and his wife Vickie of Wilmington, NC.  In addition, she is survived by four grandchildren and one great grandchild: Courtney Bullard (Kyle) and their son McKenzie, Will Thompson (Rachel), Drew Thompson and Bryce Thompson (Maggie).

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at McMahan's Funeral Home.  The Memorial service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 20, 2023, with Reverend Beth Heffner officiating.  In lieu of flowers memorial can be made to Upstate Community Hospice; 260 Fairwinds Drive, Landrum, SC 29356, or First Baptist Church; P O Box 839, Rutherfordton, NC 28139, or Welcome Table, First United Methodist Church;  264 North Main Street Rutherfordton, NC 28139.  The family will be at the home of Bill & Vickie Thompson.  McMahan's Funeral Home & Crematory in charge of arrangements.
