Cyril Louis Scott

Cyril Louis Scott, age 72, of Union Mills, NC, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 25, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cyril was the son of the late Cyril Scott and Nancy Ann Higgins Scott, and he was a native of Bellaire, OH. In addition to his parents, Cyril was preceded in death by his stepfather, Luigi Martini Jr., and his stepmother, Shirley May Scott, and by one brother, Joseph Scott (Lois). 

Cyril was known by everyone as Scott or Scotty.
In 1969 he enlisted in the Army and served almost 3 years. Scott was a man of adventure and passion, living in Bellaire, Ohio, Providence, Rhode Island, Homestead, Florida and finally his forever home in Union Mills, N.C. in 2008. He loved the mountains and the quiet peaceful serenity of Union Mills. As a younger man he loved riding his Harley Davidsons motorcycles, but arthritis made him switch to ATV's .In 2010 he and his wife Elaine bought their first travel trailer and spent the next 12 years traveling the USA and Canada. They visited every state except Hawaii and North Dakota. They especially loved visiting State and National Parks. His favorite places were Yellowstone, The Grand Tetons and Nova Scotia. He loved cooking, especially making his homemade spaghetti and meatballs and grilling outside. He loved hosting family and friends and was always the life of the party. He was an animal lover who had many cats, dogs, and  snakes. He was very compassionate, loving, kind, caring, tender and extremely funny. He was so proud of his son Michael and his grandson Nathan and the men they had become. He loved them with all his heart. He had many people in his life who loved him especially beloved nieces and nephews who adored him. He will leave a hole that will never be filled. Thank you to all the family and friends who made his last months as comfortable and peaceful as we could. Hospice of the Carolina Foothills was invaluable in keeping him at home. They are angels on earth, especially Susan and Cathy.

Cyril is survived by his wife of almost 41 years,  Elaine Susan Saeger Scott, one son, Michael Joseph Scott, (Michelle), brothers and sisters, Diana Hayes (Douglas), Charles Scott, Thomas Scott, William Scott (Krista), Brenda Martini Coffman (James), Antonio L. Martini, Dino L. Martini, Christopher L. Martini (Virginia), one sister-in-law, Kathy Jones, one grandson, Nathan Louis Scott, his very special friend, Debbie K. Scott, numerous nieces and nephews, and his dog companion, Mudd. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 2:00PM at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, January 7, 2023 with Reverend Michael Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Round Hill Baptist Church,147 Liberty Hill Church Rd. Union Mills, NC 28167, or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
