Donald Wilson Arrowood Sr., age 76, of Shingle Hollow, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
He was the son of the late Merrill and Katie Arrowood and stepmother, the late Estelle Arrowood. Donald was a native of Rutherford County and he was a member of Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton where he served as a deacon. He retired from Parton Lumber Company after 31 years. Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by one son, Jamey Arrowood, and a number of brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years: Virginia Lee Arrowood, one daughter, Alisa Donine Fleming, and husband Les, two sons, Donald Wilson Arrowood Jr., and wife Laura, Eric Joseph Arrowood, and wife Jennifer, two sisters, Willie Faye Pritchard of Gilkey, Nora Pritchard of Shingle Hollow, three brothers, Reverend Roland Arrowood of Georgia, Alton Arrowood of Ellenboro, and Merrill Wilson Arrowood Jr. of Shingle Hollow.
Nine grandchildren, Dillon Fleming, Ethan Fleming, Jesse Arrowood, Jackson Arrowood, Justin Arrowood, Sydnee Arrowood, Madalyn Fleming, Peyton Arrowood, and Grace Arrowood and four great-grandchildren, Ella Fleming, Coleman Fleming, Hank Fleming, and Ben Fleming.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 29, 2021 with Reverend Dr. Keith Stephenson, and Reverend Brandon Wood. Interment will be at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery following the funeral service with Reverend Dr. Keith Stephenson, and Reverend Roland Arrowood officiating.
