Donald Ray White, 89, passed peacefully into the Church Triumphant at his home on Saturday, March 27, 2021. A longtime resident of Union Mills, Don was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, wildlife watching, and four-wheel riding. As a young man, Don served as an Army combat medic in the Korean War. Following his military service, Don was a textile mill worker and serviceman for Public Service Gas Company. Don was deeply committed to family and faith and attended Camp Creek Baptist Church for much of his life, serving as deacon and Sunday School teacher. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Azylee Guffey White and eight siblings. He is survived by two sons, Mike (wife, Denise) and Mark (wife, Maribeth); two grandsons Clint (wife, Kelly) and Brad (wife, Joy); three great-grandchildren (Mabree, Hadley, and Raelyn); and his beloved dog and constant companion Bandy. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at Camp Creek Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 29, 2021. Interment will be in the Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Carolina Foothills (PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043). McMahan’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.
