Dr. William C. Haden, Jr.

Dr. William C. Haden Jr., of Rutherfordton, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020, at the age of 67. William was born in Lexington, North Carolina on February 23, 1953 to William and Carolyn Haden. He married his beloved wife, Susan, on August 20, 1983. William dedicated his life to helping others through the practice of medicine, where he served as a general surgeon for nearly 35 years at Rutherfordton Hospital. William is remembered for being an avid Tar Heel fan, having graduated undergraduate and medical school from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Beyond his love for Carolina basketball, he spent his time taking his family out on his boat on Lake Lure, golfing with friends, shooting sporting clays, and was an active member of the Rutherfordton Lions Club. William was an Eagle Scout, a loving father, and a dedicated healer to the community.

William is survived by his wife, Susan of Rutherfordton; four children, William Haden, Carolyn Haden Strickland, Michael Haden and Virginia Haden; two stepchildren, Adam Thomas and Laura Heyda; brother, Dr. Nelson (Joy) Haden; mother, Carolyn Haden; and two grandchildren, Sally Strickland and Sara Heyda. William was preceded in death by his father, William C. Haden Sr. A private family burial will take place at Rutherfordton City Cemetery.
