Edna Goins Lane

Edna Goins Lane, age 81, of Union Mills, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Mission Hospitals in Asheville, NC. 

She was the daughter of the late George Tib Goins and Mantha Newton Goins, and she was a native of Rutherford County. Edna was a former member of Vein Mountain Baptist Church and currently attended Oak Springs Baptist Church. She retired from Tanner's as the department supervisor after 29 years. Edna also oversaw the bookkeeping for Roy Lane's Logging company. She prided herself in being a good mother and wife, and she was a dedicated caregiver to many. Edna's family was her pride and joy. Her yard, garden, and orchard were her jewels, she enjoyed working in them when she was able. Edna also enjoyed going thrift shopping to see what treasurers she may find. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Lane Alley, one sister, Elva Goins Wellborn, and four brothers, Ray Goins, William Goins, Wayne Goins, and Frelan Goins. 

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roy J. Lane, special caregiver and niece, Teresa Lother, and other nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 23, 2022, at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 23, 2022, with Reverend Dennis Yelton officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. An online guest register is available at www.mcmahansfuneralhome.com.
