Elizabeth Wilkins Walker Mrs. Walker (Lib) age 92, life-long resident of Rutherfordton, N.C., went to be with her LORD Monday morning, October 27, 2014. She was born in Rutherford County the 14th of November, 1921, one of seven children to the late Marvin and Sophie Wilkins. Mrs. Walker was a graduate of R-S Central High School. She managed her Father's ACME service station during her brothers' absence during World War II. Mrs. Walker was the Shoe Dept. Manager for Belk's in Rutherfordton and later Forest City for twenty eight years. She also faithfully served the Rutherfordton Fire Department during her husband, Bill Walker's tenure as Fire Chief. Lib was a life-long and dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church. Lib was affectionately known as "Mamie, aptly named by her first grandchild Chuck and acclaimed and promoted by her late son- in-law Duane. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Sophie, sisters: Sophie, Jane, Mary, Sue brothers: Charles and Creed and son-in-law Duane. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, friend. She is survived by her daughters; Jane Derrick (Duane-deceased), Ginger Walker and her partner Concetta; son, Tommy Walker and wife Cheryl; grandsons, Chuck and wife Greta, Trent, Travis and wife Mindy, Blake; great-granddaughters, Madeline and Cameron and great-grandsons, Christian, Hayden and South. A Funeral Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Rutherfordton, 264 N. Main St., Rutherfordton, NC on Wednesday, October, 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Reverend Dr. Jack Knoespel. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Center one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Walker will be buried at Gray's Chapel immediately after the service; joining her mother, father, sisters (Sophie, Jane, Mary), brothers (Charles and Creed) and son in law Duane.
