Glenn Dinga Obituary

On Sunday, August 29, 2021, Glenn Scott Dinga, beloved husband and father of three, passed away at the age of 58.  Glenn was born in Pompton Plains, NJ to Charlie and Joanne Dinga.  In 1970, the family moved to Miami, FL where Glenn and his three siblings played, attended school and grew into adults.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Winthrop College, graduating in May of 1981.  He worked in government and private businesses until he eventually started his own business in Construction.  He was a licensed NC General Contractor building beautiful homes remodeling homes for friends, family and new customers who always became friends.

On February 25, 1983, he met a girl named Leslie.  They dated for six years eventually marrying on February 25, 1989.  Three beautiful children soon joined their union; Eric, Kevin and Meredith.  Glenn adored his children and they in turn adored their Dad.  Being a father was his greatest love and joy on this earth.

Glenn was an all-around good guy, kind, gentle, trustworthy, fun to be around, possessing an endearing sense of humor.  The laughter came easy and was the foundation of the deep connections he had with his friends and family.  Always a joke teller, he delivered with his own unique style that was sometimes funnier than the joke.

Glenn’s other love was music.  He was a walking and breathing resource for local bands, regional and national artists.  His love was bluegrass. He was happiest sitting in a field at a music festival listening to bluegrass with a beer in hand.

He was a beautiful and uncomplicated man who loved everyone, never met a stranger, and always had an ear to listen and a shoulder on which to cry.  He was a beautiful soul who taught us what it means to be a husband, father and friend.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie and his precious son, Eric (24).  He is survived by his wife, Leslie, his two children Kevin (married to Mathilde) and Meredith, his mother, Joanne, his sister, Leslie (m. Jeff),  Kris (m. Marcello), his brother, Todd, his mother and father-in-law, Lynn and Tom, his sister-in-law, Allison (m. Jeff) and several adored nieces and nephews, Thomas Whitener, Carly Dinga, Mackenzie Dinga, Ryan Morse (m. Courtney) and Daniel Morse.  He loved his family so much.

There will be a Gathering of Friends and Family on Thursday, September 2nd from 4 – 6 pm in the Fellowship Center at First United Methodist Church (264 N Main St) in Rutherfordton, NC.
