Harold Dean Alexander, age 86, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby, NC.
He was the son of the late Elias Alexander and the late Lunette Alexander Carpenter and a native of Rutherford County. Harold served in the U S Army. He was a member of Spencer Baptist Church. He first worked for Duke Power. He then became the owner and operator of Young & Alexander electrical and heating and air conditioning contractor that was established in 1970. He was a mason and was one of the founders of Community Bank. He later served on the board of directors of First Charter Bank. Harold enjoyed and loved the game of golf and playing the piano. He was also preceded in death by his brother Jim Alexander and a great granddaughter Ellsie Rose Atchley.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Elizabeth R. Alexander, two sons, Patrick Alexander (Rhonda) and Chris Alexander (Maxine) both of Rutherfordton, one sister, Janice Bradley, four grandchildren, Elizabeth Alexander, Austin Alexander, Ashlee Prince and Emily Alexander, and one great-grandchild, Lilly.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, September 9, 2022 at McMahan’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 9, 2022 with Reverend Dr. Bruce Caldwell officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Forest City, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Western Carolina Chapter; 4600 Park Road Suite 250; Charlotte, NC 28209 or American Diabetes Association. McMahan's Funeral Home & Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.
