Hester Arrowood Flack

Hester Arrowood Flack, age 96, of Union Mills, passed away at home Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

She was born in McDowell County on August 17, 1924 to the late John and Ida Arrowood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bill Flack, two brothers, Oscar, and Miles Arrowood, and one sister Nella Silver.

Survivors include, two sons, Wade Flack (Patsy), and Cameron Flack, one daughter, Joyce Duckett, (Kennie). One grandson, Joshua Duckett, and one great-grandson, Skyler Duckett. A very special niece, Sherry Warren, and a special friend, Annette Dalton.

Hester owned and operated Hester's Snack Bar in Rutherfordton for 40 years. She was well known for her fast service and good food. She enjoyed seeing people and fed many students at the high school. She loved her family and always had a Sunday meal for them to gather around her kitchen table. Hester loved to garden and grow flowers.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, May 14, 2021 at McMahan's Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 15, 2021 with Reverend Chris Fox, and Reverend Chad Sisk officiating. Hester will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at Round Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Union Mills Learning Center; P.O.
