Jerry Melton Jones, Sr. July 10, 1936 - June 13, 2013 Jerry Jones, of Rutherfordton, NC died on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the age of 76. Jerry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton, NC, the Masonic Western Star Lodge Number 91 of Rutherfordton, NC, and the Board of Directors of Habitat of Humanity of Rutherford County. He was also a dedicated volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity Organization. A former member of the US Air Force, he was a veteran of the latter days of the Korean War. Except for his years of military service, Jerry spent his entire life in Rutherford County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ala Mae Williams Jones, his father, Robert Baxter Jones, his son, Robert Douglas Jones, and his grandson, Jeremy Robert Green, all of Rutherford County. Survivors include the his wife of 55 years, E. Rose Dunaway Jones, one son, Jerry Milton Jones Jr., and his wife, Linda Marie Jones, and 2 daughters, Elizabeth Ann Garcia, Jacqueline Sue Jones, and her very significant other, Jason Matthew Coposky, two brothers, Steven Allen Jones and his wife, Alice Jones, and Robert Stanley Jones and his wife, Deanna Jones, three sisters, Gail Jones Skipper, Jennifer Jones Cook and her husband, Wayne Cook, and Marion Jones Shuster, and her husband Bob Shuster, 10 grandchildren: Dustin Lee Green, Wesley Robert Garcia, Wendy Rose Garcia, Kimberly Jones Montoya, Jessica Jones Valverde Moya, Jamie Michelle Jones, Leslie Marie Jones, Madalyn Cherie Jones, Kieran Grey Coposky, and Finn William Coposky, one great granddaughter, and 4 great grandsons. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at McMahan's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11:00 A. M. with Dr. Jack Knoespel officiating. Masonic Funeral Rites will be rendered by his Lodge.
