Jewel Brisco "J.B" Isbell, age 86, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Thursday, February 3, 2011, at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Ruthefordton, NC. Mr. Isbell was a member of Tri City Baptist Church in Conover, NC and attended the First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton, he was a veteran of the US Navy serving in World War II and served in the Merchant Marines following the war. A native of Catawba County, NC he was the son of the late Benjamin Pendleton Isbell and the late Gertrude Icard Isbell and the widower of the late Mary Kuykendall Isbell. Mr. Isbell was preceded in death by his brother William Isbell and his sister Virginia Isbell. he is survived by Two Daughters: Joanne Isbell Beasley, Rutherfordton, NC Donna Isbell Walker, Greenville, SC One Son: Phillip Isbell and wife Shawn, Des Moines, IA Three Sisters: Jami Isbell, Hudson, NC Jackie Ennis, Icard, NC Pat Isbell, Hickory, NC One Brother: Dwight Isbell, Hickory, NC Six Grand Children Benjamin Beasley, Adam Beasley, Marianne Beasley, Taylor Isbell, Phillip Benjamin Isbell II, Michael Walker One Great-Great grandchild; Isabella Jane Beasley The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, at McMahan's. Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church of Rutherfordton at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 6, 2011, Rev. Terry Honeycutt and Rev. Gary Murry officiating. Interment will be at Warlick's Baptist Church Cemetery, Connelly Springs, N.C. with military honors provided by Rutherford County Honor Guard.
