John "Phil" Jay Obituary

John Phillip "Phil" Jay, age 70, of Forest City, NC, died Sunday, December 26, 2021, at White Oak Manor of Spartanburg. 

Phil was born  March 9, 1951 in Rutherfordton, NC.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Master Sergeant (Ret.) John Paul Jay and Nell Camp Jay.  He was a graduate of R S Central High School and attended Isothermal Community College.  He was a U S Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and served in Hawaii and Vietnam.  Phil was a member of West Point Baptist Church.  He retired from manufacturing at Crellin and AFA.
  
He is survived by his wife; LeAnna Thomas Jay.  Step-son Shawn Norman (Tammy), step grandson, Shane Gilbert and step great grandson Lucas James Gilbert. 
One Sister: Linda Jay Hodge One Brother:  William "Bill" McClain (Gisela) and nieces and nephews.

The Graveside  service will be at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery; 1743 Chase High Road; Forest City  at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 30, 2021. Interment will be at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
