John Franklin Skipper, Jr., age 73, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
He was the son of the late John Skipper and the late Lillian Boone Skipper, and he was a native of Rutherford County. John was an avid woodworker and was a member of the North Carolina Woodworkers Association. He was a friend of Bills, for 29 years. One of John's favorite things to do was take long drives with Cathy. John also loved his dogs; he was a boxer dog person. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a Second Lieutenant during his time serving.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Cathy Skipper, two daughters, Crystal Deviney and Tommy, Brandy Laws and Wayne, one son, Shannon Skipper and Ann, two brothers, Alex Skipper, and Boyce Skipper, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
There will be a gathering of family and friends 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday July 4, 2021, at McMahan's Funeral Home. From 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM family and friends will have an opportunity to share memories and celebrate John's life at McMahan's Funeral Home.
