Julian A. Goode, age 89, of Forest City, NC, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Rutherford Hospital. He was a member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church, where he had served as an assistant Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. Mr. Goode was a veteran of the US Army and served with the First Armored Tank Division during World War II and was retired from the the North Carolina Department of Transportation A native of Rutherford County, He was the son of the late Addie Goode and the late Eva Mae Allen Goode, and was preceeded in death by his Brother, Howard Goode and two sisters Edna Allen and Estellene Waters. He is survived by his wife: Dorothy York Goode. Four Sisters: Ann Trammel, Forest City, NC Elizabeth Logan, Forest City, NC Mary Flack, Rutherfordton, NC Alice Coggins, Forest City, NC One Brother: Fred Goode, Forest City, NC Two God Children: Kim Penson Guffey and Bobby Penson A number of nieces and nephews. The family will recieve friends from 2:00 - 3:00 PM, Monday March, 7, 2011 in the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. A funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM, Monday March 7, 2011 in the Mount Vernon Baptist Church with Dr. Scott Courtney and Rev. Richard Bass officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Paving Project 2676 Hudlow Rd. Forest City, NC 28043.
