Lavonne Cherry Obituary
Lavonne "Bonnie" Cherry, age 86, of Rutherfordton, died Friday, May 20, 2016, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Bonnie was a resident of Rutherford County since 1962, and originally a native of Iredell County. She was a volunteer for 50 years with the Rutherford Hospital Auxiliary, and also volunteered with Hospice of Rutherford County. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Rutherfordton.
She was the daughter of the late Lonnie "Deck" Cartner and the late Ethel Cartner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry J.
Cherry, Jr.; three sisters: Louise Tutterow, Lois Glascock, and Lorene Glasscock; and one brother, Gilbert Cartner.
She is survived by one sister, Linda Jo McAuley of Statesville, NC; two daughters:
Judy Cherry of Clemmons, NC and Amy Cherry (Ronnie) Creel of Indian Trail, NC; and one son, David (Marcia) Cherry of Franklin, TN; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, May 23, 2016, at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at First United Methodist Church, Rutherfordton at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 24, 2016, with Reverend Dr. Jack Knoespel officiating. Interment will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Forest City.
