Linda Ann Silvers Baynard

Linda Ann Silvers Baynard of Rutherfordton passed away on February 9, 2020 at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Fincannon Silvers and Leroy Silvers, as well as her brother, James Silvers. 

She is survived by her two brothers, Marvin Silvers, his wife Linda, and Kenneth Silvers; her four daughters Denise Yelton and husband David, Lisa Jackson and husband Vernon, Gina Searcy and husband Shane, Sharon Dulaney and husband Terry; nine grandchildren Katie, Allyson, and Emily Yelton, Heather and Clay Turner, Brandi Camp and husband Brent, Chris Searcy and wife Sandy, Danielle Hill and husband Tommy, and Natalie Upton; eight great-grandchildren Hudson, Ellie, and Evie Camp, Kaylee and Camden Searcy, Garrett Upton and Alleigh Holland, and Blakely Turner. 

Linda Baynard was a weaver and a loom technician for forty years at Stonecutter Mills, Spindale Mills, and Mastercraft. She loved her job and her extended family she found at work. Linda was also an active member of Gilboa United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton, and she loved her church family like her own family. 

Linda was the matriarch of her family. A strong woman who especially enjoyed holidays, family meals, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was an unbeatable cook, and her crock pot macaroni and cheese, desserts, and sweet tea were famous at church gatherings as well. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working out, and loved country music – especially Conway Twitty and George Strait. Linda had a contagious smile and loved to laugh and joke with her loved ones and friends. She kept a positive attitude and strong will, even during difficult times. 

The memorial service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 6:00 PM at Gilboa United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Linda’s name to her church, Gilboa United Methodist c/o Denise Yelton, Treasurer, at 265 Amber Oaks Drive, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
