Lucille Taylor Gast

Lucille Taylor Gast, age 93, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Wendover Hospice in Shelby, NC.

Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Martin Taylor and Ellen Taylor. In addition to her parents, Lucille was also preceded in death by her siblings: Betty Taylor Haake, Nell Taylor Haire, Patricia Taylor Doar, James Martin Taylor, and Charles Wilson Taylor. Lucille was a longtime member of Green Hill Baptist Church and retired from BellSouth in 1996 after 38 years of service.

She is survived by her son, Steve Gast (Susan); two granddaughters, Stephanie Gast Domingue (Emile), their daughters, Whitney and Londyn, and Kathleen Gast (Beau Fournier) and their daughter, Keira.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Green Hill Baptist Church, with Reverend Matthew Moore officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Green Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1941 US Highway 64/74A, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. McMahan’s Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
