MSG John Ruppe Sr.

MSG John Ruppe Sr., age 81, of the Shiloh Community, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Fair Haven Home in Bostic. 

He was the son of the late Ralph and Beula Ruppe and he was a native of Rutherford County. John was an active member at Gray's Creek Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was involved with the RA's program. He was an active member of the Rutherford County Honor Guard until he was no longer able. John was an avid gardener, and especially enjoyed his purple Cherokee heirloom tomatoes and his yellow tomatoes.  John wrote poetry and songs, and he enjoyed singing in the choir at church. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a retired Master Sergeant of the 120th Arcom in Brevard. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his second wife, Janell Dobbins Ruppe, two sisters, Patricia Baynard, and Glynna Ledbetter, and four brothers, Jim Ruppe, Jake Ruppe, Noris Ruppe, and Mike Ruppe. 

John is survived by, one daughter, Sandra Ruppe, of Union Mills, two sons, John Ruppe, of Rutherfordton, Marty Dobbins, of Rutherfordton, two sisters, Laura M. Adair, of Union Mills, Carol Axon, of Rutherfordton, two brothers, Tom Ruppe, of Union Mills, Steve Ruppe, of Union Mills, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. 

The graveside service will be at Gray's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 31, 2021, with Reverend Dr Bruce Caldwell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. There will be no formal visitation. Interment will be at Gray's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
