Hendersonville, NC - Francis Clyde "Proc" Proctor, Sr. died on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Cardinal Care Center.
Francis was born in Charlotte, NC, on April II, 1926, to Robert Elmer Proctor, Sr. and Marie Brooks Proctor. He Married Anne Camilla Washburn on August 14, 1952
From a young age Francis was very active with his church and always found a place in their choirs. For his first thirty years he attended the First Methodist Church in Charlotte. With his wife Anne, he then moved to Lake Lure and became a member of the Church of Transfiguration in Bat Cave. When the family moved back to Charlotte in 1964 he became a leader at St.
Andrews Episcopal Church. He and Anne moved back to Lake Lure in 1986 and was again involved at the Church of the Transfiguration. Francis loved driving large trucks and spent a majority of his work life driving or repairing big rigs. While in Charlotte, Francis was Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 128. In Lake Lure Francis was also a volunteer Fireman and served on the board of directors of the Lake Lure Volunteer Fire Department. After retiring he traveled extensively with his wife around the country in their motor home. Above all Francis was a loving and caring person to all he came in contact with, both people and animals.
Survivors, include two sons and their wives, Francis, Jr. "Bo" and Carolyn Proctor of Charlotte, NC, and Jim and Robin Proctor of Lake Lure, NC.; four grandchildren, Connie Proctor, Austin Proctor, Nicole Proctor, and Kathryn Proctor.; and a host of family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Cardinal Care and Hospice of Henderson County for the loving care Francis received during his illness.
Funeral: Tuesday, August 2 at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Transfiguration, Bat Cave, NC.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM at the Church of the Transfiguration fellowship hall and following the service at the fellowship hall.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials sent to the Humane Society in Edneyville, Church of the Transfiguration or Hospice.
