Gertie Hill Cothran, age 91, of Rutherfordton, NC, died on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Drew and Berdie Hill. Gertie was the widow of John E. Cothran. She had retired from Mastercraft and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Rutherfordton where she was a member of the WMU and the Trailblazers Sr. Adults. She was known as the card lady and enjoyed sending cards to all the church members and her family on special occasions. She is survived by One Daughter: Yvonne C. Holly, NC Wayne Cothran and wife Debbie of Matthews, NC Three Sisters: Violet Kelly of Sandy Mush, Alva Rice of Charlotte Berdie McLaughlin of Phoenix, AZ Nine Grandchildren Eighteen Great-Grandchildren Four Great-Great-Grandchildren The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2012 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at the Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 10, 2012 with Rev. Dr. Keith Stephenson and Rev. Brandon Wood officiating.
