Octavia “Dot” Callahan

Octavia "Dot" Callahan, age 92, of Bostic, NC, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, in the care of Fair Haven of Bostic.  

She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Etta Callahan, and she was a native of Rutherford County. Dot was a former member of Alexander Baptist Church, and she loved going to church and her church family. She was the cook at Ron and Eddy's restaurant for over 50 years. Dot loved to be surrounded by family and friends, she just loved people in general and always was very thoughtful. Any time anyone came to visit her they never left without food. Dot was a dedicated mother to her four children, and she will be greatly missed. She loved to wear pins and she also loved to play bingo and participate in activities at Fair Haven of Bostic. In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by one son, James Nelson Greene, and one son-in-law, Bobby McMahan. 

Dot is survived by three daughters, Nancy Greene McMahan, Marsha Ann Callahan
Toni Callahan Ferguson, and her husband Matthew, four grandchildren, Michael McMahan, Todd McMahan, Mark McMahan, and Tara Millspaugh, three great-grandchildren, Sarah McMahan, Miranda Carson, and Henry Millspaugh, and one great-great-grandson, Cruz Carson. 

There will be a memorial service at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 9, 2021 with Chaplin Denise Griggs and Mark McMahan officiating. The family has asked that masks be worn at the service. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Activity Department of Fair Haven Bostic. An online guest register is available at www.mcmahansfuneralhome.com.
