Ruth Hoover Arrowood, age 91, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at her home with her loving family and caregivers by her side.

She was the daughter of the late Zeb Hoover and the late Lillie Queen Hoover and a native of Rutherford County.  Ruth was the widow of the late Roland Arrowood who passed away this past February and they were married for 71 wonderful years.  She was preceded in death by a son James Michael Arrowood. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Sue Sigmon, Faye Hunter, Grace Gurley, Herbert Hoover, and Dean Hoover. Ruth was a loyal charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church, there she served on many committees. Ruth retired from Lone Mills as an office secretary. She loved music, baking, cooking, and sharing meals with her family and friends. She was most remembered for her biscuits, fried chicken, strawberry pudding, and chocolate cakes. Ruth also enjoyed gardening. Flowers, especially irises were grown by the hundreds. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandson. However, she loved her family including many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Irene Toney, Ashley Scruggs, Kimberly Hall, Susan Lail, and Sandy "Sissy" Scruggs. Thanks to the BEST hospice team, Courtney Marlowe, Ashley Scruggs, and Courtney Shuford. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Jim Van Jura and staff.
